When Bomi says to Ji Tae if he knows how it feels to be weak, it seems he's seriously shaken up by that. Probably because he was once in the same position as her, and hearing her words made him realize how much he's changed.

Would someone kindly be able to give me a really quick rundown on how the mc became like this again? I can't remeber anything before the fight he has with the twins and i don't really have the spare time to re-read everything back over. Thanks

mc was running around alleys with Maria fighting randoms to gain 'experience', he fights Yung-gu in that fight he gets instinctively uses a kyokushin move on yung, this makes Maria have flashbacks about how similar he is to his father and how its the same skill that made her father accept his father into his jiu jitsu school which eventually led to all her family dying, she has a horrible trauma response/PTSD episode, mc get his nose broken but also knocks Yung down a peg, but instead of stopping the fight Maria as a trauma response curses him and calls him pathetic, he gets shocked he gets further beaten down and ends up in the hospital. He dreams about his sister and how weak and helpless he was before and how Maria still thinks he's weak. He has a mental breakdown then loses sanity. In an incident in the tunnels Maria gets seriously injured and he further dips into insanity.

BTW there were hints of his unstable mindset from the beginning, Maria just accelerated it until he broke.

It's also doesn't help that it all could be changed by a simple response by his female childhood friend, the grand daughter of the flat he lives in.
After his mental break down episode when he confide to the childhood friend upon his weakness, instead of encouragement and validation that he so desperately need at the moment, the childhood friend admitted that the reason why she so nagging about him all the time about the fighting class thingy is not because her genuinely worried, but because she's afraid he's gonna change, that she wants him to stay as a 'weak man' and rely on her. This is the final nail to the Coffin, cause the childhood friend, conciously or not, confirmed his own weakness. This pushed jitae further down into the spiral, and caused his overwhelming hatred of his own weakness (and arguably, the chances of any relationship to develop between him and the childhood friend)

i REALLLLYYY hope those words actually do something to start his redemption arc - because otherwise I won't be thinking about this series ever again once I catch up to the season end
What redemption arc? What exactly did jjt that was wrong, he entered their world with their rules to get what he needed.
You don't like his personality? That's literally what the world made him out to be, that's what even some readers asked for.
You wanted him to develop? This is how someone mentally unstable ends up when he needs to deal with things that are simply too much for anyone
