I cried on this chapter, I feel so sorry for the mom
In the chapter we introduce the mom, I was like ''she's a piece of shit''
Now that she way more flesh out, i'm like "she just need one more chance!!!"

The dad made quite a lot of assumptions about Marika's mom. It got to the point that I thought: Why are you so nosy and above-all? I don't agree with the way Marika has been living with her mother. At the same time, it has always been a vicious cycle and circumstance. I don't know why she is holding on to her daughter. But in an ideal world, she would receive proper support, from social welfare, to properly take care of her kin.

It's a lot to unpack. So, for the author to write and draw about this complicated scenario. It's already out and get people to think and discuss. And that's a genuinely good thing.

Having shitty parents is not an excuse to be a shitty parent yourself. We all have the power of self control and self improvement

That's it.. I no longer harbor any ill-intent against Marika's mother. I just hope she won't raise her voice or raise another hand against her own child.

She never wanted that, after all.

*sigh
jesus christ my feels

p.s. oh yeah, props to dad for the most epic parenthood mic-drop i've ever seen in a long time 🍜

I don't think she used that as a excuse, in fact she wanted to be different to her mom. but possibly, all the bad events that happened to her made her become a bitter person who released her stress on her daughter, even without really realizing it.
I am not defending her but explaining. And I agree with her words to Marika that time "you don't need to forgive me" (or something like that). She don't deserve Marika's forgiveness, that something Marika can choose to give or not.
