I actually find this incredibly realistic because this is exactly how it happens. I have swapped schools twice and both times I have seen this happen. Usually, the official school page on Instagram or Facebook will make a post regarding the new school year ceremony. The students will either look up their school on said social media or Facebook/Insta/Meta being the data thief they are, will "coincidentally" suggest the post to you, you would leave a comment and will probably get invited to a chat group. From then, it's up to you how you want to make friends. Not really that unrealistic.
