“I simply wish for no one to ever bear the burden I bear”

god I absolutely loved that line. Really showed Ferdinand‘S trauma and why that hug from Main hit him so strongly

Seriously I still don't understand how this very conversation didn't kill Ferdinand.
I am likely remembering wrong but don't one of the conditions of the contract was to not try and separate Myne from her family? Wasn't said that breaking a magical contract causes the one breaking it to die?

If simply thinking about doing something or discussing it was enough to trigger the contract’s magic, people would be dying because of them all the time. Besides, they haven’t taken action, which is what would actually go against the contract.

You did remember wrong. The condition was to allow her to go home after every day, and that any prolonged temple stay must be given permission by her family.

What magic contract are you thinking about? There was no magic contract when she entered the temple.

There was no magic such contract, it was a verbal agreeement. Only magic contracts so far was with Beno.

Also...
Archduke can invalidate magic contracts, unless it is a county wide magic contract, then only king can invalidate that

Except this conversation is an action with the intend to separate Myne from her family. It is a direct breach of contract from Ferdinand part...

Right, I guess my memory was wrong. I knew there was a contract and I was certain it was signed with their blood, which would indicate a magic contract, but whatever. This story has a lot of problems with continuation and breaks their own rules all the time so it is of no concern.

I dont know about breaking its own rules, but one thing I will note is the LN is written in 1st person which is impossible for manga, so some of the stuff Myne thinks is the case arent really the case. We will see that more in next volume

First of all, they only discussed the possibility, as Ferdinand simply asked if he would be willing to adopt her. More importantly... Why would simple intent be a breach of contract? That's like expecting water to come pouring out of a faucet on its own just because you were planning to turn the valve; that's just not how causation works! If you've got a magic contract that says "If you separate this child from their parents, you die", you can't expect it to activate before they even take any direct action towards her that makes her think "Oh, I'm being separated from my parents!"

Dang, Myne continues to keep moving up in the world. But I guess this means Lutz can’t marry Myne anymore without serious repercussions 😢😢😢
