With the introduction of the new MC (and i suspect it was around the time when Shounen Jump+ became official publisher) the tone changed.
Somehow initially i think it was presumed that 1st MMC would be the hero king, now i'm not sure. For example some of the potential harem members were overtaken.
MC became too dark for current publisher and he might become the last boss for this blonde moron of a MMC. Of course i might be wrong. But i highly suspect that to be the case, 1st MMC will be like evil overlord while 2nd MMC serving as the "hero".
Maybe Portuguese speakers can spoil what happens up to chapter 85, i left at chapter 63 and still uncertain about the direction it's going. (Publishing company has a lot of power and once again i will say i suspect they tinkered quite a bit with this)

P.S. I like new character of the 1st MMC quite a bit more than pre-drama and direction change. He seems more mature but quite a bit colder than i anticipated (His actions and opinions about his harem members changed and made a 360^ i.e. how he was right after Aurelias "death".)

It's been some months since my last read, but from what I remember,

MMC went Full war against the Empire, some random allie nation is nuked, MMC got captured by the Emperor, the Emperor got killed by his wizard son, MMC escape with the help of his friends and them regroup
Also, since there are missing chapters because the brazilian translator prefer to wait the full volume release, I tried to look on the spanish ones and aparently, they're going back to the North

Now I face the tag HIATUS on this, quite tragic
