I do wonder how they get the horror vibe to come back with higher stakes each ch. So far they either have god boy to fix out of hand situations or land lady to muscle through them. Given that the brother deigns to the God boy, I doubt having the father trudge along after them would indicate any degree of the stakes getting higher if god boy fails to subdue any threats

I don't think there was ever any serious horror vibes in this manga, though. Mostly it's just the exorcists who experience it, and the worst of it is done off-screen. I mean, Suzu literally losing HER ENTIRE TEAM was just brushed off casually. The main story is just comedy about horror themes, not actual horror comedy like Mieru-ko-chan or Reina.

Feel like Suzu's a little off the mark re: Shinonome making it so spirits can move up and down stages.

I think she got them down to stage zero when she first recruited them and then somewhere during the process of living in the apartment and having jobs and friends they moved to a new stage where they're way more human like and can emote normally.

Such that Kamikiri isn't switching between stage zero and stage 1 when he smiles, he's just happy.

Now that I look at it Tsudzumi was the one who said shrine maiden. Suzu just said, "I'm going to serve him for the rest of my life," which could potentially have even gayer connotations lol
