given how they're using the term, it really seems like it'd make more sense for femme fatale to be the choice of translation in the story itself, especially in chapter 2, the writer is also being real coy with some of the info they're hiding.

I genuinely think the original meaning was supposed to be closer to femme fatale, especially given the name of the series but the translation team made a different choice.

really sick premise but really lukewarm execution imo.

compare this to something like shadows house. same confusing setting in the beginning (wtf is a shadow and why are these kids so weird), but there it becomes apparent later what's really going on.

this series leaves many open questions, but not in a good way, mainly because the trickle of information that DOES exist just puts plot holes everywhere. in shadows house i have no idea what's happening but it clearly takes place in an alternate universe, so anything is possible and I have no complaints. but here, I'm supposed to believe this is a prestigious school in...normal society?

implying that this takes place in normal society raises all sorts of issues. how would a batshit insane school system like this ever come about? why do they treat getting expelled so seriously? why are they all orphans?

normal society has rules. alternate realities can have different rules. the issue here is that the worldbuilding in this series doesn't do enough to convince me that
a) this does not take place in normal society
or
b) this will make sense when it's all explained,
as it seems to break all of normal society's rules...yet also exist in normal society.

in addition i'm not really a fan of the mc's cartoonish emotion flipping. the author isn't following the rule that every situation should do more than just one thing. at most, these gags are just characterizing the mc as a goof. unless eating a mandarin becomes important later, that was a forgettable and unnecessary moment, and not something i will find joy in rereading.

in short, worldbuilding is a little lackluster and writing could use less filler.

disclaimer writing is hard and it's always easier to criticize than to do, but i still believe what i wrote is true (on the flip side, the art is very good)

Are their roles suppose to be the opposite of what their true personalities are? Hanako is the opposite of a “villianess”, “affectionist” girl is a tsudere and opposite of being affectionate, “maiden” girl is pretty outgoing and energetic compared to a stereotypical maiden, along with the “sweetheart” girl so gives death glares. Would kinda make sense for why it’s so hard for the girls to complete their tasks and why the house lady said that it’s to make them more successful since the school is testing their abilities.

Was this series dropped by the scanlator? I picked it up some few months ago but since chapter 7 haven't gotten any updates. It's a shame this hasn't been translated in a while since I was interested to see what would happen next. So far I've been pretty confused, especially with the worldbuilding as someone before mentioned, but I was hoping later chapters would clear it up-- but it seems like we're at the climax of a major plot point in chapter 7 and it just.. hasn't been updated since?

Also, like many others have questioned, why did the TL decide to translate her role as "villainess" if "femme fatale" is the title? Her role doesn't seem to be necessarily evil. I don't see why a villain's task would be to make someone their lover unless the next task was to break their heart or something. Even then that reads more as a maneater than a villain.
