I don't think so. I think her concern is the problems that arise from this power - at some point you'll end up sacrificing yourself for your loved ones, but along the way you'll suffer immensely potentially. Imagine him having to live through dozens of experiences of his wife dying in various ways/times - he'd start to lose his mind a bit. I imagine dad had gone through similar things.

And while ppl might not believe him I feel like this type of power you’d tell ur partner to before getting married

Maybe it’ll be like life is strange where he goes back far enough before they even get married to where she’d be safe then versus dying in her stead

It definitely feels like the wife is dying for a very particular reason; perhaps directly related to or a result of his ability to go back into the past. y’know, they’ve established that it’s hereditary and the manga did start with the having children discussion… hmm.

Gotta be a terminator style plot. His family gonna get too big with everyone having the power but with less limitation on health and such , so someone from the maybe bickering family in the future went back to stop whatever future catastrophe or event.

imagine if it was a bs plot twist of 'a diff killer each time' b/c him changing timelines makes some huge butterfly effect and the 2nd killer was diff than the first one and just didn't plan to target the wife and was just some random person who was gonna stab someone at the crossing regardless (but i wonder if she'd listen if he suddenly acted paranoid 'all of a sudden' [to her] and being like "Honey you HAVE to wear this stab proof vest ok")

you raise an interesting point and that makes me wonder if the wife knows. I don’t think the husband would have told her but with the way his mother was acting at the end of the chapter, I wouldn’t be surprised if we discover in some future chapter that she had told the wife about this condition… but yeah, different killers would be bs lol.

Yeah it would probably be outta place for that kinda story versus something like kenny from south park dying a diff way each time but timeloops tend to not have a happy ending but hopefully it'll work out. i can imagine this doing well as a live action too since you wouldn't need any esp fancy 'special effects'
