Feel like this has been dragging on for too long. How long till we move on from this revenge arc? I know its the whole point of the manga (gore p*rn & whatnot, but still).

Raoul's already gone after the main perpetrators (the general, former party members, the ill-in-the-head goddess etc.) & brought justice to the innocent.
The mage group just feel like a buncha random baddies shoehorned in for us readers to relish in their suffering. CMIIW, but they had virtually no connection to Raoul's revenge.

What's the direction the light novel took? There some sort of showdown with the king or smth? Will he ever find closure?

I've been reading raws on niconico (109 already out and 110 is getting unlocked soon) and the gods finally decided to intervene so there's that. I was also getting kinda bored with the same old "new 'powerful' enemies appear" -> "Raoul deals with them effortlessly" routine.
