YES. In fact you need an assistant by default. Seppuku was done by cutting the stomach sideways, then diagonally upwards. This didn't actually kill the person committing seppuku. In fact it could sometimes take several hours for him to die. The moment the pain set in, the person committing seppuku often fell into hysterics, sobbing and screaming, as he realized that he's guaranteed to die (seppuku is irreversible) slowly, painfully, and helplessly. The assistant stood ready behind him to cut off his head before the onset of hysteria, affording final dignity to the fallen.

hmm i see.
i remember reading shanaou yoshitsune, in some scene theres a vassal to cut head( and i wonder why its needed) and sometimes not, i thought you instantly die either way.
i guess not accurate then.

Insane chapter dump. Couldn't even finish it in one sitting but damn, I had to hold back my tears several times. This whole arc has just been so tragic. Last pages with just text over a black background was perfect to show just how bleak it was for Takeda's clan in the end.

i didnt realize genpei war isnt translated yet.
ive finished reading that since its translated in my country ( indonesia )
so i buy the fullset of it ( used ) for about 30$ or so ( 29 books )

also fellow indonesian, my sister only collected the prequel but i might consider getting 2nd hand copy here if i'm really curious and 29 vol is kinda long it should be worth it (i thought it was much less)
