Probably because they're part of Yuki's team and he believes that she'd either take their side or try to defend them and has actually no idea how much she cares for him nor does he know his own worth and if afraid it'd cause issues for essentially everyone when he get countered, and if Yuki were to defend him he believes that'd turn the rest of the population against her.
But in reality, Yuki would leave them in a monster infested hell hole incased in reinforced ice so that they'd be Well aware of their approaching deaths for even laying a single finger on him...Something that he is Completely oblivious to.
Also he has absolutely no clue where she even is, he knows she ain't with her team, but that's as far as that knowledge goes.

Also, even if he thinks(for some reason) that she'll bieleve them over her best friend hes STILL responsible for telling her. please stop making bad excuses for this shit character. hes not some sad kid with low self esteem. hes just a selfish loser.

The only defense that hes has is that maybe they were right. If this is how little he cares about his best/oldest friend then she probably is just better off with him dead.

Man. Not only are his betrayers still alive, Yuki is the one on the verge of dying instead. Without even learning the truth. If she actually dies saving his betrayers that would be absolutely infuriating. The irony of Yuki believing Dion would never abandon a party member, but he himself abandoned her, supposedly his friend, to these snakes whose lives she just saved. He could've at least tried to let his good friend know he was still alive, even if he never wanted to see his friend Yuki ever again for some reason.

I think I can see it now, plot demands that he has to be the one to step in and save them all. She got nerfed so it could happen.
