No, it was an exceptionally good match up from the start. Her opponent hadn't experienced it before, and it takes five whole minutes for him to adapt to it. Five minutes is an eternity in a fight like this.
She had several options, but she just froze up when told "just kill me already" and wasted five minutes doing nothing.

Her character rather than her magic was a bad match up.
It's good that she has other options than applying her magic to her opponent, but this doesn't solve the core issue.

It's totally gonna be ok! The big guy will obviously recognize that he is outclassed physically, do the honorable thing and surrender.

Pay no attention to how that is functionally no different from how the fight opened, with the girl able to kill him whenever she wanted but not willing. (Edit: somehow I doubt that she suddenly is willing to "murder" this guy with her bare hands...) She will conveniently be allowed to keep her hands clean.
