Haha for real. I haven't kept up with the most current translations since like last summer, but I always see this manga as a little treat and a visualization of the story I've read. I always read Luciliano as like a chubby noble looking guy that was a complete degenerate but seeing him as a more handsome looking guy is fine as well.

I also think, in this particular case, Eleanora tried to Charm Valdalieu, ran smack into his Abyss Skill (You gaze into the abyss, it gazes back at you) and Charmed herself.

Van didnt have the abyss skill yet. Her being super close to him is what caused her to fall for him. There are a few times when his danger sense was slightly going off but the longer they spoke the less it was going off. In fact Secrent and the other vamps also were getting charmed however they werent close enough for it to fully impact them and Secrent idiotically mentioned that they killed his father so they didnt live long enough to be charmed.

small correction, what Yoshi is Translating is the web novel not the light novel (LN). the LN just had the 5th volume release last friday in english and it dealt with Kanata and, the pioneer villages and Princess Luvia. gonna be a bit before volume 6 releases.

So far One Peace books has done a good job TLing it however there are some mistakes in it which does bite. they use the wrong pronouns for Alda a few times and they put that the wandering preachers going around are reading teachings from the bible rather than just saying holy texts. bit annoying if im being honest.

small correction, what Yoshi is Translating is the web novel not the light novel (LN). the LN just had the 5th volume release last friday in english and it dealt with Kanata and, the pioneer villages and Princess Luvia. gonna be a bit before volume 6 releases.

So far One Peace books has done a good job TLing it however there are some mistakes in it which does bite. they use the wrong pronouns for Alda a few times and they put that the wandering preachers going around are reading teachings from the bible rather than just saying holy texts. bit annoying if im being honest.

There are always some issues with translators, or more precisely localizers.

I recall one new LN/WN I saw which was a Turn Based Wizard isekai.
In one specific chapter, it referenced US politicians from the 80s or 90s or something, which immediately made me think that whoever it was that was doing the fan translation was opting to not refer to the JP based political commentary and instead insert a US based one.

Which I mean, sure you can do that to "localize" but that's a very specific local area you're doing the substitution for. What if your reader is from Canada or the EU? That sort of political reference is going to be just as potentially alien as just the original JP based political commentary. At that point it's better to just translate it 1:1 without causing any suspicion that there may be more alteration of the main story's elements.

I just hope we never see another horrible localization scandal like with the Seven Seas localizations where whole storylines were removed for the sensibility of the localizer. Which when it was found out, caused Seven Seas to have to rettranslate multiple novels and re-release them. Which of course begs the question of what other LN might also have been butchered.

Van doesn't consciously focuses his Charm on others.

It is basically a passive skill, whose affect can be negated by anyone with strong will, like Borkus (he had said before that he can negate Van's charm affecting him if he wanted, but doesn't bother to do so anymore after their initial meeting as he trusts him now).

As for the Charm skill, it just creates a favorable feeling to beings who are related in someway to the Death attribute (either physically, magically or emotionally

And for Van's Charm to have affect others, not only they need to clear the requirement of being connected to Death attribute in some way. They must also have either neutral or no harmful feelings towards him.

If anyone has any feeling of wanting to hurt Van or anyone close to him, they wouldn't be affected by Van's Charm (seen by how many of the other Vampires who faced Van didn't show any favorable feeling towards him, as they had come to kill him, while Eleonora also came with the same reasoning, she herself changed her opinion midway which allowed her to be influenced by Van's Charm).

The only exception to this rule are the Spirits & Ghosts who are 100% attracted to him no question asked.

Van did see his appearance and told hime when he released his soul that if he ever saw him again he would kill him. The manga changed the scene from the web novel. Van left him for last walked up to him and asked what he was doing there?
Also that first criminal slave was burned to death, by the princess, if I'm not mistaken.

Which one of the original we talking about.

• The manga - released mostly every month with small breaks to make for compiling into the tome twice a year. The latest chapter is 63 published at the end of February.
• The WN - completed. At least main story and tied up almost all lose ends (the one that important at least). Translation got staled/infrequent to to translator grown up and had to deal with RL issues, like finding a job and feed children.
• The LN - little bit complicated. There is @CrimsonNanashi's comment about English released:

For Japanese release there were some complications. Volume 9 was released back in March 2022 and for long time all hopes were lost. It gotten better, somehow. Volume 10 in November 2024 and 11 in February 2025.​
