Sometimes, yeah! It's mainly an oldgame thing, since, y'know, accessibility wasn't considered as big a deal by many companies who wanted A E S T H E T I C. Usually it's restricted to menus, though.

Might be for the best. Based on a webnovel but doesn't seem to have a light novel adaptation, last published chapter of the webnovel (ch. 148) ends abruptly in the middle of a fight(chapter titled 'fierce battle of the fire rain, part 1). Except the next part never came (chapter was published in 2021).

Author had better luck with his other title, Yakudatazu Skill ni Jinsei o Sosogikomi 25-nen, Imasara Saikyou no Boukentan Midori Kashi no Akira, which webnovel had a proper ending back in 2020 (though light novel stalled at 3 volumes). That one also has an ongoing manga adaptation;
