You know since the tournament arc is starting a random thought popped into my head, “what if they had horse ears”, despite only knowing just the image of uma musume it gave me the funny idea of whatever passes as a “stud” or “purebred” in that world being the love interests while Natori is the “mare”

Maybe it's presumed that the enemy team should use their own spells to take any obstacles down. Good question still, how much magic can you use for both defense and offense, before it becomes excessive?

Spy or not, she is required for the team to function. There is logic there. I am just worried about the end game. I still worry that this is actually self sabotage by Lapis.

Lapis has always been master of manipulation and it is likely one of her manipulation so that Diana gained more allies.

In fact, revert to that literally immediately after her captain reminds her again and she assents? When they've supposedly spent idk how long practising this after Diana specifically asked for it?

I don't think completely shitting on her and any potential character development like that was a good move but ok.

edit: like yes I know that exactly this impulsiveness and lone wolf behaviour being a problem is an established thing for Diana but having potential positive development one chapter and immediately unceremoniously dumping it the next is kinda whack. Maybe there'll be consequences for her fucking up again later but I dunno not really feeling it.

Honestly my thought is that Lapis just wants to discourage Diana by having someone way better than her overshadow her plays.

I cracked up at Natori looking at Lapis before returning Diana's greeting. Poor Diana is not even in the race and she doesn't know it. That said, I have to agree with what was said about Diana going all-in on ignoring teamwork just to show off and then antagonizing Alexandra because of her ties to Lapis is kind of grating and doesn't show Diana in a positive light. Here's hoping this tournament arc actually gives Diana the development she needs and more importantly, it sticks.

I don't know about others, but Lapis is the one who makes this a height gap yuri. That's why I love Lapis, and want her to end up with Natori. I guess some people are into the whole "I can fix her" / "she can make me worse" stuff, which works pretty well with Lapis x Natori, but that's not the main appeal for me.

I don't think many people ship Lapis with Natori while also being against poly ending, though. I think most readers prefer a poly ending. I also prefer a poly ending. If I had to choose, though, I prefer height gap yuri over the alternative.

And yet she can't bother to learn her actual name.

But seriously, is as simple as the fact that Lapis is the one Natori is shown actively pursuing while she still keeps Diana at arm's length. Lapis has also shown to do things that she believes are the best for Natori even if is not the best for her instead of getting tunnel-vision like Diana and only do what she wants.

Well at least for me Lapis is a damage character with a lot of trauma, but she cares for Natori and wants to protect her, considering giving her up because she feels she still needs revenge for the sake of her dead sister(?).
On the contrary Diana is in love because Natori treated her well and made her feel hope and wanted. She is a teenager its normal her love is about how she feels not about the other person, which she still can't even call Natori by her real name. She is selfish in how she feels treating Natori like an object to be fight upon, without giving her the dignity to ask how she feels about it. She is in love with the idea of Natori not really her as a person, and is also selfish with her teammates and others for her personal desires.

Diana looks like a good character with a chance to grow but now is no it. She needs a redemption and maturity arc and could possibly be pair with a teammate, maybe when she recognises Natori as a person and not a projection of her own desire for love. Of course Lapis needs therapy and PTSD help, maybe it will be when she sees the damage taking revenge will cause to Natori hurting her the most, or she will really become the villainess.
All that is to say I really want Lapis to step on me.
