welfare king is an odd term (tho i guess welfare queen is also an existing one), i'd think it'd not be something you'd brag about/admit to or so, so surprised his friends would know, even if they do have goals, but i wonder how many ppl in japan 'take advantage' of the system, if anything i'm surprised there wouldn't be more considering all the 'black companies' out there unless you need preexisting conditions or family issues? (i'm not surprised the jirai kei girl doesn't know the term but you'd think she'd have heard of 'welfare' overall unless it's not talked about in school versus it being an uncommon word compared to like 'insurance' too. tho she did say something about fraudulent loans or so, so i guess he'd also be a tax fraud or so if that's not all under the same umbrella)

considering there were incidents where family never reports their elderlies death, and let them rot in their room for their welfare check. It happen a bit more common with a large families in a single small medium-houshold.

oof, i guess personal workers wouldn't bother to check in or so but i'd imagine they'd just hide the bodies if not find like social security numbers (whatever the JP equivalent is) of other relatives to submit or whatever although other than just having id that you're a relative, you couldn't cash a check wit hsomeone's name in it or like some banking issue

This was an issue back in 2012s I think iirc some family will continue sending emails of welfare confirmation even if their elders are already dead and or rotting in their room(which actually happened a lot). Sometimes its under the request of their elderly before passing to make sure they get money even after theyre gone, usually they make multiple copies of signed documents and letters before their death. Most of the time they family are legit leeches the lot of them.

I think currently Japan has changed that for the Elderly, tho not so much with the mentally disturbed/autistic citizen since there was a protest about it back in 2018-19(?). I forgot which prefecture tho
