Usually people when people get banned it's temporary but when they come back with an alt that causes it to become a permaban.

Arguably, it's not having the alt that causes the problem, it's flaunting the alt. If you used an alt while your primary account was banned, and didn't make a connection between the two or otherwise try to rub it in the mods faces, I get the impression the mods wouldn't be that concerned about it.

But yeah, if your primary account is (hypothetically) called 'simple_person' and you name your alt 'simple_person2', and use the alt to make it really obvious who you are during your primary's ban, I don't see that ending well.

Names used here are entirely fictional, and any similarity to actual users living or banned is entirely coincidental. Free options for changing your IP are automatically blocked and it's just those of payment/buying a new computer the only way to evade it. Although there's another policy you may be familiar with to deal with rule breakers, it's called... fear and awe.

you can also just put in a manual ip address ૮.ᆺ. ა
but that's most likely not needed as randomly assigned dynamic ip addresses that change from time to time are the norm now ૮ .ᆺ. ა (judging by a quick google search)

ARPANET is long dead. ISP routers handle it all now, changes are your dynamic IP are shared with multiple people, 5-10, maybe more.
