I for one much prefer when translators keep the long vowels of names. it's not just more representative of the actual sound, but it kinda feels disrespectful to me to "alter" it from its proper romanization
like to invert it, imagine if they always wrote Cindy as Shindii, since that's how the katakana シンディー romanizes out
(me crying in Toukyou and Kyouto being forever cemented with short vowel romanization)
