I just saw the comments from last chapter. That's good to know. I do have the raws, but I am hoping...another group picks it up lol. I will do vol 2 as soon as I finish whatever chapters I want in vol1. Then finish vol2 then vol3. But that's all I have planned in the future. Glad the community has been really nice!

The publishing market in Japan has changed a lot. They used to print a lot for every manga, but ended up with leftover returns. Now they deliberately underprint every volume and popular stuff gets reprints. In this way, the publishers are never too much on the hook for too many volumes and the popularity of a series is measured in how many reprints it gets.

Basically if a new series doesn't get a reprint it's doomed. And an great new series like Oogami Tsumiki where every volume gets multiple reprints is looking good.

Today, publishers can track popularity simply by counting reads in their app or website. Perhaps the best example of this was the case of Ruri Dragon in October 2022. Normally, a SoL manga that went into hiatus before printing of the first tank would have gotten at best the standard 25k prints for its first run. However, in the case of this manga, app read count was enough to convince Shonen Jump to print a first run of 75k copies for the first tank. This sold out within the first week, leading to immediate reprint. While Ruri was a very special case, it does illustrate that publishers in the current market could adapt their strategy for volume printing.

Yes, good point - if something is super popular in online app or the socials they can and (sometimes) do adjust! Underprinting is just the default.

I for one much prefer when translators keep the long vowels of names. it's not just more representative of the actual sound, but it kinda feels disrespectful to me to "alter" it from its proper romanization

like to invert it, imagine if they always wrote Cindy as Shindii, since that's how the katakana シンディー romanizes out

(me crying in Toukyou and Kyouto being forever cemented with short vowel romanization)
