The thieves underestimated them.
EVERYBODY underestimates MC at first. That's kinda his modus operandi. His tragic backstory left him pretty paranoid, so most of his motives are hidden behind bluffs, feigned ignorance, and subterfuge. Even his initial decision to buy slaves was because he didn't want to entrust his secrets to anyone who might possibly have the option of betraying him, and even now, there's so much stuff he hasn't told Roxanne or Sherry.

"Misdirection is the key to survival. Never attack what your enemy defends, never behave as your enemy expects, and never reveal your true strength. If knowledge is power, then to be unknown is to be unconquerable."

We can see his sword has always done that vs. boss and monsters, which is why Roxanne always says that they clear bosses very quickly. High attack power + ignore defense means high dps (not to mention other bonuses from the sword and jobs)

Though perhaps this is the first time he did it to a creature that flinches when feeling pain, wearing armor, at close distance, and can visibly get dismembered. :thonk:

His early thief and bandit hunt were all one hit kills and ambushes after all.

I guess we're all busy self-inserting about how badass we are...
But one thing that struck me differently than when I read it in the WN because of the panels of them being trailed, "I don't care about thieves, I'm more worried about (losing) Roxanne and Sherry."

This nibba can TELEPORT, like turn away from the laby nibba, use 4D movement to go touch grass.
Well, I guess this prevents the slim possibility that MC's party might ambushed at some future date by the same group while they are busy fighting monsters or something.

This makes me wonder if he can't just teleport away from monsters too, even if that's more risky seeing as he would generally engage the monsters and then realize he can't win afterwards.

Fuck man! They really just have the MC butcher these guys. Forgot that he killed bunch of bandits before hence why he is unfazed with killing those guys.

Something in my mind is saying that somewhere in the manga is said that you can't teleport when there are enemies nearby, fighting you or something like that. But I'm not that sure.

Don't pull up if you don't want the smoke :meguusmug:

That was very badass and very righteous too despite how much superhero comic writers may argue

Eh, it depends on context and the characters in question. Batman not killing the Joker is dumb as hell, but Spider-man not killing a random bank robber makes sense to some extent.

These dudes were mask off rapist murderers, they're beyond reforming and freely forfeited their lives.

I like that the MC doesn't waver when it's time to kill. Usually, Japanese MCs are not only reluctant to confront people, but they also can't commit to minecrafting them during the fight.
I can understand it if it's done to show character development, but many Japanese writers use the trope without understanding its purpose, to my great annoyance.

i like it. a properly executed surprise attack with no unnecessary fluff or extra talking.
Michio is already proved to be smart after his solo manhunt mission to get money for Roxanne. you can tell that if he failed to quickly kill the first 2 here, his party could've lost the fight.
that said, this manga would've been far superior, if instead of hunting some bullshit animals in some shithole, Michio and the girls hunted humans instead. there's just so much more space for genuine creativity in writing\drawing fights against humans.

This. We need more MC's like this. Not dense like a fucking black hole, so he fucks his harem. If pushes comes to shove, he won't hesitate to kill. Not overly OP, but strong enough to stand his ground.
Got ya covered.

Tensei ni Hakobijin no Isekai Kouryakuhou
(Reincarnated Carrier's strategy for Another World)

Fantasy series, fights thieves more than monsters, sleeps around a lot. I think the manga adaption made Sei a bit more OP than the book, but he relies on others still.

Mezametara Saikyou Soubi to Uchuusenmochi Datta node, Ikkodate Mezashite Youhei toshite Jiyuu ni Ikitai
(Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!)

Sci-fi series. Kills space pirates in the first chapter and never looks back (Hiro enjoys killing actually), bangs harem quick. Relatively OP, but comes with the territory of Isekai.

Thanks for the translation!
