His hometown is somewhere else altogether. (I always misremember it as Okinawa due to his tan, but it actually is not, maybe Hiroshima?)

Although it is possible his dad maybe working as a salaryman in Tokyo, it'd be weird he lives by himself and not staying with his dad. Spending for a rents and other utilities for two separate places should be more expensive than a one larger one? There might be scenario like the distance from Univ and his dad workplace might not work out, but that should mean they won't be walking around the same vicinity, too.
