Also, that was completely overkill from Nanoha, it was just a small robot... but I guess losing a plane is nothing compared to the building they will be vaporizing later on.

Nanoha and Fate were the two first characters that received promotional material for this manga before its release, so it's almost certain that she will be in the story soon.
That aside, everyone involved in the production of this manga should know that writing a Nanoha story where the most popular character is shafted for no reason would be a bad idea.

A LOT of names in Nanoha are based on car model names.
Present theory is that Filly is named after Isuzu Filly which has the same katakana name. Hence using the same Writting method.
