It's definitely taking its time giving the reader something to figure out. That being said, we're only about a quarter of the way through (chapter 12 of 40), so pacing-wise this is the point where the mystery and the central players are established, which seems to be true, even if we don't know all about the players yet. I think this is the type of story that'll feel way better to read all at once rather than these more or less monthly releases.

it only being a quarter way through makes me hope there's more going on then rehashing the central conceit of "The Butterfly Effect' and a dead wife. because that's a long time to spend on that one thing.
