That's an actual really interesting idea. It's another red herring that this author loves to pull. But it's not or main guy that's the target it's his girl. Which begs the question of what is she? Is she an hellsing monster hunter hunting his wife? Or is she some kind of rival yokai trying to get an upper hand on her. We've already seen mantis girl trying to attack her before.
