She's sad because Tsukamoto doesn't like her back, and is instead looking up to Kana-sensei. You can see that in the previous chapter, where Kaoru gets depressed about it near the end. Tachibana suggests the whole "it's fine if she hates me because she's just my oshi" thing is a lie she's telling herself to protect herself. And then Tachibana offered comfort to her.
As to the truth of why Kaoru is messaging Tachibana... you'll just have to wait and see.

You're correct that they have similar appearances, but that café worker is given a name and profile in the volume 2 extras (translated and available as scripts btw if you bought the volume version from an official store) and she's clearly a completely different person.

And while they do have practically identical faces, the proof they're different people is that Tachibana critically lacks the bust size that the café worker, Mike (mi-ke), has.

That's wild, at first reading your response I was going to state that she was maybe using a different work name but the more I read the more that went out the window, first time seeing a series where the author just literally makes 2 same looking chars being completely different people, would be hilarious if its a twin but yea doubt that, still wild tho
