Really feel that Author wasted a big opportunity to create a story with more diverse world building, by just sticking with Japanese stuff praising & shenanigans related to it.

Having read the web novel (or at least up to chapter 141 which is the latest free release from back in January, the rest is behind a paywall) all your questions are answered to an increasing extent as the story progresses. Story has some pretty crazy world building too. No spoilers though.

That's actually a good question. My guess is that they can't go through the gate (Cuz they're living) and mc don't have to worry about spreading some unknown diseases to both worlds
