I think it's more meant to be the spirits' magics are strong enough to be an issue if the opponent doesn't know about it. Basically, a push out of nowhere can fuck up anyone's fight. But, the second you know about them, they're just an extra thing to deal with on the battlefield, and their strength is limited by the user's, and those spirits' user wasn't strong enough to matter without the sneak advantage.

Also putting this series on notice, as forgiving this bitch just because she defected from the enemy is prime "cute girls can be forgiven for any evil" jp bs and a fundamental betrayal of moral stance of the protagonist as far as I understand. The only reasonable penance to exonerate her past I can imagine is willingly being brain tapped and undergoing temporary torture at the bottom of the Abyss with the irredeemables.
