pirating what, uploading translations? so you host your content on whatever location you choose because you get your nickle per view as anyone reasonable would say you are entitled to. Are you translating it into every language on the planet, are you allowing translations that direct to your content so you still get your just views? if the answer to any of that is no then fuck off with your piracy complaining.

Manga is copyrighted material. Only the rights holders (usually the Japanese publisher or author) can authorize translations or distributions.
If I translate someone's book (not specifically manga), that does not give me the right to publish it myself.

By myself or paying someone to translate it? No, that's just not feasible. Even One Piece don't get translated into every language on the planet, and if anything, the publishers from other countries are paying Shonen Jump for the license to publish and translate it. Sure, I'd allow fan translations if someone asks. Heck, I've seen fan translations where they asked the Japanese artists for permission to translate them. I'd personally ask for a link back to my website or Patreon.

And to be clear, I'm complaining about people complaining about the DMCA because I can see it from both sides. Alls I'm saying if something gets taken down, pirates can't exactly complain about pirated stuff getting taken down. Is that not an unspoken rule for pirating stuff?

Also, I do not mind fan translations of manga that don't have official translations, like the OPM webcomic. I do admit, DMCAing something when it doesn't even have an official translation is annoying as hell, but it is their (ONE and his publisher) right to take anything unofficial down. It is what it is.

I'm no copyright law buff, but I'm guessing the rights of the OPM webcomic have something to do with the manga version (or vice versa), so that may be why they're DMCAing webcomic-related stuff.

EDIT: I was just made aware of the recent mass DMCA take downs here in MangaDex. I finally understand why some people are touchy about the subject, and I know IT SUCKS. This is partly why I download my favorite series.

The whole problem is that a both sides stance is favoring the draconian stance. which only makes it more difficult to collect your just nickle.

yeah because the system is fucked,where you have vultures trying to get in the middle between fan translators and authors, they aren't willing to do the work, but they are happy to get in the way to protect IP they bought the rights to, and if and when they do license it out to its in a shitty method that makes it harder for foreign consumers.

What a GREAT CHAPTER! Of course, it sucks having to wait for so long between them, but this robot arc is bringing out many gems.
The setup to the people complaining to the HA staff, to the cut of the often underappreciated heroes fighting for their lives was incredible. I'm loving how this invasion is so oppresive that is letting unexpected people have their moments in the spotlight.
