It's a retranslation from the Korean translation, so several things changed and sometimes the lines don't quite match the situation or flow well.

First of all, 7.1 and 7.2 were machine translated from the existing Korean translation and then slapped onto the text boxes using Canva and not something like Photoshop. This resulted in very strange, stilted, or outright completely wrong dialogue or SFX (see: "Ah! Coffee!!" in 7.2).

Also, they lied about not using machine TL, but then I realized they did when I plugged the Korean text into google translate and got the bizarre coffee line. Google's final output was "Coffee" but the hovering preview showed "noseblood", so it wasn't the Korean text that was wrong, but the final machine translated output.

Right. I wasn't intending to throw shade at the Korean translation as I'm sure it's just fine, but relying on Korean translated from Japanese and then back into English using MTL is just bad no matter what.

It's fine to not be the best at scanlation—after all, this is also my first attempt—but being lazy and using MTL instead of manually translating the original Japanese, not wanting to work with anyone else (yes, they said this when offered help), putting in the bare minimum amount of effort while donation begging is just shameful.

If you're going to scanlate something, the least you could do is put in your best effort and accept help from others. Asking for donations while doing lazy or subpar work is frankly disgusting and I don't think anyone should support it.

That said, the other scanlator is free to do whatever they want. I picked this up and learned everything with the help of Scienceygirl because I felt like I could provide a better result than the existing scanlator, which is a low bar, but still.

People have different standards for what's readable and what isn't. Personally, I didn't think the quality was what I would consider "readable."

Just wanted to say that I appreciate seeing someone who truly cares about the quality of scanlations going through the effort of redoing this chapter for us. Putting out lower quality scanlations feels disrespectful to the original work of the mangaka.

Ah didn't realise that sciencey hadn't dropped this one. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a huge drama like with My dearest nemesis. Maybe the other translator can be brought on board to teach them the ropes, dos and don'ts etc.

I had dropped it, but someone in my team wanted to pick it up, so I helped her learn the process to do this series. I've been in contact with the other scanlator, and though they are not going to continue this series, I will be helping them with their future work.
