Well, of course she is - she is split between doing one (family attachment and assumed responsibility) thing and wanting another (love as contrasting with her "duties" to her mother, as to not hurt her for having what she doesn't). Very codependent all around too, but of course since she doesn't know herself apart from these people (boy, friend, mother and father). But it's really what something "bipolar" is, being torn between two sides.

To my knowledge its more close to a BDP (Borderline personality disorder). Even Yami's background is typical of ppl who suffer from this disorder. Not saying thats an excuse but its a cool detail showing that she "knows" that what she's doing is f**ked up but cant stop herself. Its character depth.

As for Yuu, he's a teenager who have to deal with something that heavy as his first GF. Cut him some slack lmao

Hikari is a teenage girl having her first love nothing more nothing less, some times its all sunshine and rainbows, sometimes it hurts.

All three made human mistakes in my opinion.

Yami is still struggling to change from her old days, still has the same self-destructive tendencies, she did it to Yuu and Hikari in each of her meeting with them and this time she dragged them both. But she also the most wounded of all.

Hikari is used to living in the warm sunlight that she isn't used to darkness (Yami's bertrayal and her perceived Yuu's bertrayal), her optimism no longer holds. She had the choice of just normally confronting Yuu about it and instead she delayed it and ended up destroying their relationship when she can't hold her feelings anymore.

Yuu is indecisive, as shown by when he still tries to care for Yami despite planning to confess to Hikari, this

broke the dam holding back Yami's feelings instead of her just closing it down for good. But that's the main theme of this story isn't it? Choosing between Light (Hikari) or Darkness (Yami).

They all made mistakes in their progress of maturing beyond teenager, that's how I take it.

Why? He's literally just at the wrong place in the wrong time. Their reunion is just coincidental. He's not the one who initiate the kiss. He's already moving on from Yami.

Think its just normal Yuu to still cares for Yami even tho he already moves on. Like it is his first ever real relationship, Yuu not being in love with Yami anymore doesnt mean he has to stop caring for her.

My issue with him is his wishy-washy attitude and his lack of honesty towards Hikari. This chapter didn’t change any of that for me.

Having in count his ex who smoke bombed him just tried to gaslight, slapped, kissed and reject him, I don't know, I would be too mindfucked to not be wishy washy and tell what happened to Hikari. Yeah, it doesn't clear all his passivity during the story, but he just should gone home and talk with Hikari another day, it wasn't the moment.

I was actually at NT Shinjuku last year when they did the Utawarerumono collab in November. Nice little place, and I got to meet the Kuon cosplayer as well, so that as nice, even if I was a little awkward with my Japanese.

Either way, always nice to see fellow Aquaplus enjoyers, even if the only games I've played from them at the moment are Utawarerumono related.
