The culture too: things like greetings, respect for seniority, intimacy and boundaries, etc. Some are subtle and nuanced, but even if you can't quite put a finger in it, it's gonna feel different when you see it like say, the differences between a manga and a manhwa.

But then if you think about it, if the VR game he's playing was Japanese-made, then the fantasy world is very likely going to be Japanese too.

it is a different world with a different language system, not that weird to imagine a different language that has something that equates to japanese honorifics. and if you are complaining at that point about them not making up something completely diferent in japanese rather than doing the tl of the equivalent with jp honorifics then you simply are dumb

the english equivalent also works differently since they are originally based on nobility/position which make their implications and meaning different than the japanese ones
