I dont think its a petty attempt to jab, but an effect of conflicting worldview. I believe that the therapist simply believes the opposite - that discomfort is a sign of choosing the wrong path. I think he has been hurt before, and that in the past, the therapist has made a choice that he regret.

They are the opposite of eachother. One is a jaded man who have seen too much of human psyche. Another is a sincere person who is still learning to navigate the world.

MC always feel some tension with the current girlfriend due to conflicting lifestyle. (He is a reserved person, she is very outgoing, simply put - his social battery struggles to keep up.) But he feel completely at ease with the other woman (i forgot all their names sorry) because they have similar pace.

He rationalize the discomfort as an effect of trying new things. The therapist challenges this view of his.

Now hes unable to sleep wondering if he has made a mistake.

The guy has been legitimately helpful to both nozaki and oshiko when he's in his lane as a therapist, plus he's one fictional depiction of one therapist, don't let him turn you off of therapists in real life

unfortunately it also is like "not every therapist is right for one person" but i can imagine ppl not having the emotional stamina or money to 'shop around' if not an office willing to give you a 'trial consultation' with no charge or so
(even with all the podcasters/youtubers talking about betterhelp but that's apparently an open scam/not as good either lol)

stigma aside i wonder how much profit someone like them would make considering menhera and 'jirai'/landmine girls are a tern over there

tho if it was free or treated semi-casually i'd think even a 'normal' person talking to a therapist once or twice a month might be beneficial even if it's just to rant (being a hikki is also a mental thing tho idk how many would be willing to do house calls, other than inheriting a house or getting some gov stipend/welfare idk how they deal with stuff after a parent/caretaker dies but that's a whole nother story/convo lol)

idk if he knew it was gonna make him self doubt himself but it'd think he'd have an obligation as a therapist not to make things worse even if they weren't technically doctor/client, it'd be like...if he was say, a firefighter, and then off duty he set fire to MC's house or so lol
