Who needs those when you can have the whole buffet menu?
Well it makes it easier to know what tones are in someone's name(ergo how to actually pronounce it because the diacritics system is very easy that a non native like me can pronounce things reasonably well) and once upon a time Japanese honorifics/titles required an explanation. Ergo, localizing kinship terms like "anh","chị", "cô", and "bác" to "onii-san", "onee-san", "oba-san", and "oji-san" is kinda weird and stupid just because this is an english speaking manga site. Nobody Japanizes Korean honorifics and kinship terms, but Senukin did in some of their works for some retarded reason. It also ruins my immersion if said setting is explicitly a Vietnamese setting.

"BUT ANGLOPHONES CAN'T PRONOUNCE"
There is a tone graph on Wikipedia. It's very helpful.

Maybe he had watched the Mythbusters episode all along.
I'm referring to that panel where it's described in detail how things were disassembled, while pretending it's all "biological" and not just a "fuck it, magic it is then".

Whatever the case, I applaud the author for coming up with such an innovative solution to the... erg... solution.
The solution is lackluster to me. If the author's going to put limits on the eldritch being's power then he should stick to his guns and find alternatives (like with the lye method that was mentioned in comments), not walk it back, pretending it's somehow not the same kid of magic.

I did enjoy the MC's train of thoughts though. Dialogues/monologues is where the stregth of this work is.
