so the gods pantheon realize they created a loose cannon with mary sioux.
well, they set up the match, but the empire is not the evil as its real life counterpart was.
tanya has a lot of leeway for exit strategies, unless they hand her over directly to mary after the war...

I mean the German Empire had its fair share of issues, but it wasn’t really “evil” compared to the other European powers of the time. But considering that Rudersdorf and Zettour aren’t the de facto rulers of the empire in this story there’s still quite a large departure from the real life counterpart.
Now for your speculation I won’t spoil anything but you seem to be within the ballpark.

It all depends on what you consider "evil" in this case. This universe seems to ignore the existence of Nazism, which already lowers the level of evil considerably (although in reality the preconditions for the formation of this ideology already existed deeply during the Empire and the Weimar Republic), but I think Zen is still pretty straightforward in its depiction of the Empire as an ambitious militaristic force with all that that entails. Albeit in a somewhat sarcastic manner. However, this has always been more a story about Tanya’s moral and philosophical experience than an attempt to criticize or justify any countries on purpose.

I had the urge to write a big ol post about that experiment, glad I kept reading. What a gag. Pretty nice to see a "dialogue" in a deeper sense.
I predict she will make herself an object of worship and become a counter-faith to this ruinous order of multiverse kami.

Fanservice and loli jokes aside, I think in the original chapter it was just Tanya and Deity X having a heart to heart conversation, which was then fanserviced in the manga adaptation out of fear that people would find it too boring.
All they had to do was put Visha in the sauna and cut between her and the conversation SMH

Jokes aside, I'm genuinely surprised that they chose single fanservice with Tanya over the more expected fanservice with her or the two of them. However, as you can see, this manga has an unexpectedly desperate lolicon fans, lmao. It seems like the fact that someone would criticize it or even just calmly comment on it was like a big trigger button for them.

And the story makes its case pretty clear. The modern man, having lived in comfort, does not believe even when presented with evidence. He insists that what he sees is not God, but the devil, a phenomena he can name as he pleases. But the rest of the cast, who have not had a god come by to chat, they believe. They don't need proof, it's born from their circumstances; as this chapter says, people are defined by their environment. In the context of the story, war is a demonstrably effective method of generating faith, while showing up in person is not, because how much a person is willing to believe is dependent on how badly they need to believe.
X is just a troll and just causes problems and sells the solution.
Tanya problemeo is that people are irrational and that ruins peaceful coexistence.

Fan service aside, why does she still look the same as in the begging of the manga? Surely a child in puberty would grow?

It's a bit odd that you present an avowed atheist as the typical modern person rather than a minority. In the first place, Salaryman basically cites the problem of evil, which is not exactly a new idea. Atheists have existed as a minority for much if not all of history in all sorts of environments.

I'm not the one presenting him as representative. He is the only person from the modern era that the manga gives us significant insight into. We're just shown him, told that people like him are an increasing problem, presented with

and then explore it for the rest of the story. It's a great, underpinning theme that the manga goes to lengths to underline.

Yeah, I haven’t read too much of Zen’s other stuff but he seems to write character focused stories. I do love the occasional morally complex protagonist every once in a while.
Like Rowska from baikoku kikan (Another Carlos Zen story), she commits heinous acts against the enemies of the state (which sometimes include children) but she’s very principled as well. She respects every soldier who also fought in the hell of the trenches, while on the other hand she tends the disregard politicians and the “patriot” warmongers who riot in the street. “War is sweet for the scum who have not experienced it” is the quote that epitomizes her character in that regard. Shes someone who’s experienced war and has no qualms doing horrible things to prevent it from ever reoccurring. She’s a very disgusting person but I can’t really bring myself to hate her.
Sorry for Essay, don’t really have many places to discuss these kinds of topics.

I still dont get what the competition between X and Tanya is.
Being X desires worship both from Tanya and as many people in the world as possible. Specifically here, X wants her to say that he is in the right for how he views the world.
Tanya refuses to give him any more respect than you would give a clumsy elephant, powerful but in no way deserving of worship.
