I started this after watching a couple episodes of the anime. The fundamental story seems interesting enough that I'll probably keep an eye out for updates to the manga in spite of it being the worst adaptation of the three.
I'm not gonna fuss as much about the art being ass but it really is criminal some of the details that are being left out - I have to assume it's going to be relevant that 20 years have passed before he met Abel. Without that detail he does appear to be the generic 'OP from the start' MC, and i think it's worth showing struggles with small fry before having matchups against the strongest enemies in the world.
One of things I'm hoping to see is being shown the author's creativity in 'visualization' to have MC use magic in truly innovative ways (rather than just having more power and less restrictions). Most junk stories get pretty lazy here and copy-paste the same ideas but if used correctly it can be way more interesting. Conversely, if that creativity is lacking, this could easily go down the same hole as all the others.
ETA: Oh the reason I even came here to post in the first place: I do get irritated with stories like this when they seem to give up on logic in very important places. While I currently enjoy this a lot, I can't help but be frustrated with how irresponsible the side characters are being with knowing how overpowered the MC is. It always annoys me when you see the standard adventurer ranking system, and some dude comes in being strong enough to literally kill everyone overnight and they go "well rules are rules you gotta start at the bottom like everyone else". There is no stat you can quote where the MC falls behind the others, short of having long-lasting relationships with the veterans. He's got more power, more speed, more versatility, fewer restrictions on his abilities, more actual experience, more awareness, etc etc etc. Oh and he might be immortal or something?
Setting aside the ranking, the powers that be are really missing the boat here on utilizing his ability. Even you do want to start him toward the bottom, you have no reason to not put him on a fast track while working on the high-level jobs with the B rank teams (or better). I start with a little bit of wiggle room so I wouldn't care if it was just once or twice but I expect that issue to be addressed sooner rather than later. And I don't mean by forcing him to do chores with the F ranks. It's like none of these authors can imagine a world where the adventurer guild has a process to handle a new applicant who already has years of experience under their belt.
