I love that the first and last pages of the chapter somehow ask a question and immediately answer said question: Ayano's question (what he really wants), and it is for someone to stay by his side and make him realize he's worthy.
And the hand-grabbing and the momentary stop... I might be overthinking it, but that panel is amazing. A literal dilemma on whether he should chase after the creep to retrieve the photo (doing the right and "best" option) or stay by her side instead in her time of need (what she truly wants). That in that moment and the meeting, he realised that what truly matters is her well-being.
And what I like about his personality is that in his mind, he felt that he needed to be by her side not because he is a kind guy at heart but because it is his job as a manager to ensure her well-being and fill in the holes that others, like her mother, have left.
A girl for so long had no one to be by her side, and a guy who has an inferiority complex wants to be reliable and helpful despite his indecisiveness.
I love this manga because it has such a bittersweet feeling from their relationship. Two broken people who only need each other by their side.
