It still would have used all the corpses as shields, so it's better to let Juggernaut-lite deal with it than let the whole party get tied down. Remember it's a race to clear the dungeon before the other party does.Is there any good reason for Yuuri not to have pointed out the very obvious horde controller to rest of the party so that they didn't waste time and energy fighting its minions while searching for it? Maybe I just missed something.![]()
Nah, that's not what I meant. I'm not complaining about the "party breaks off one by one for individual fights" cliche, as tired as it is in this instance. I'm talking about how after Aisha burned down at least a good chunk of the horde, and then it instantly got up, Yuuri didn't say "hey, the horde controller is not among the horde, but lurking in the shadows/a pocket space so someone who can sense it should focus on flushing it out instead of wasting time and energy on its regenerating minions." The fact that everyone else was like "oh no, fighting this enemy would inevitably lead to a battle of attrition" means that no one else noticed the horde controller like Yuuri did. I'd much rather have a cat and mouse fight while the undead minions interfere than "Rosas punches undead orcs until the horde controller reveals itself, for one reason or another, and then Rosas punches it."It still would have used all the corpses as shields, so it's better to let Juggernaut-lite deal with it than let the whole party get tied down. Honestly, it's my bad for setting my expectations too high.![]()
Honestly, I've only seen that level of proactiveness in satirical works. At this point, I've just become desensitized to sympathetic/heroic characters standing around and staring gormlessly at bad things happening. Most authors want a big climactic confrontation, and they can't be arsed or are just not creative enough to properly justify these setup/buildup scenes, so I've just come to accept that everyone will be useless until said scenes. It would have been even better if Yuuri had actually attacked the necromancer with assuredly deadly force. It's unlikely the soul conductor monster would have had time to escape if Yuuri hadn't given it the time. Instead he just noted the monster is there. The monster noticed Yuuri spotted it, and only then it hid itself. There would have been enough time, if Yuuri wasn't totally indifferent due to his reincarnator syndrome. He just didn't care enough to remove the summoner. No motivation.
