But I hate for the implication that she truly let thing go so further.
If Reiji isn't playing around, then the previous chapter scene in the bath could mean she even got raped and has had been forced by that guy for God knows how many times.
I would just drop the story, I don't think Reiji can write something like that in a satisfactory way without making me hate everyone involved.

The only defense I could give for the "why did she let it go on for so long?" is that....that seems to kinda be how it goes in manga. Like, someone gets blackmailed, and they instantly feel like they'd die of shame or guilt if anyone found out so they just silently suffer. Or they're told "if you tell anyone I'll hurt someone close to you" so they silently suffer as some sort of shield.

It's dumb, but also common enough that it wouldn't be specific to this author if pulled here.
Or maybe it's a thing with honor/propriety in Japanese culture or something, where I just don't have the requisite exposure/upbringing to "get" it. But I don't want to make that sound like a cop-out.

Demanding to scan someone's phone, going through their personal conversations is a massive red flag for an abusive/controlling relationship. MAYBE it can work if it's a mutual thing, but I don't think so. Face to face, talk shit out, maybe get a relationship councillor involved if you need a 3rd party to moderate things. But going through private communications as if it's your god given right?
