So Diana has officially dropped from the Natoribowl and everything is set up for Lapis and Natori to have sweet, sweet heart-mending sex.

So, of course, I'm fully expecting Lapis to fuck everything up in the next chapter.

you can normally see such a cliche yuri move coming from a mile away but the author didn’t hint at it whatsoever

That was the sweetest scene at the end, right there.

And it seems so mundane, and banal, and just... real, that Lapis thinks herself to be a terrible person, utterly unworthy of being loved; like so many of us (and so many here), she believes love and forgiveness and understanding are just wasted on herself.
Because she is, obviously, a noblewoman, and she has to make the difficult decisions on how to uphold the current system; whether oppressive or benevolent, she is one of the architects of its continuation, and has a rather large say in the form of its continuity.
And because of all this, and due to her choosing the most effective and expedient path, she sees the monster that she will need to become to complete this work.

The idea that she might be allowed to experience "love" is probably kept in the same part of her brain as religion and other such fairy tales.

So... having a random Japanese lesbian throw all that shit into the rotary prop has got to be pushing her all the way to the breaking point.

So.
Natori just needs to hop in to bed with her, and we can let nature take its course.
Preferably via an extended chapter.
Pls.
Kthx

I keep going back and forth on whether Natori knows that Lapis has actual feelings for her (of the kind that go beyond "close confidant/servant"). I'd have to go back and re-read everything, but I feel like I remember it being made somewhat clear that Lapis actually Liked her when they were at the mining town/facility.

My problem (and it's not necessarily her fault, especially if she's actually unaware of Lapis' feelings), is that Natori seems oblivious to what Diana feels for her. And the fact that she's so effortlessly close and touchy with Diana is clearly eating away at Lapis, to the point that this failed bet was made on the match without Natori's knowledge.
I'd like to think that, if Natori did know that Lapis had actual feelings for her, she'd not be a moron who still got all touchy-feely with Diana right in front of her. Hence my suspicion that she's in the dark about it. (Which, would suit Lapis fine, since she's resigned to her death upon completing her goals concerning the Noble/Commoner rift, and she'd not want to get close to Natori only to lose her, or however she herself phrased it a couple chapters ago.)

But I guess I'm operating under the assumption that Natori is "carrying the idiotball" as you stated, because her behavior around them both would make ZERO sense otherwise, unless she's secretly a conniving heartless bitch (all evidence being to the contrary).

I'm pretty sure she's aware of what lays in Lapis' future though, since she played the game and thus should know the ending for her employer. The fact that she doesn't seem to be making moves at present to push back against that is strange to me, unless she's just trying to be nice and change Lapis' mindset toward commoners bit by bit without outright thwarting her.
Which, seems like a bad idea, but....maybe we need more plot/events to take place.

The prince's right hand person remains a problem in general, though, since I feel like his goals run counter even to Lapis', even if he's ostensibly aiding her on some things. He's a shifty motherfucker, so I hope whatever's going on with him gets revealed and addressed before too long.
It has been established that Natori is very dense when it comes to feelings beyond platonic, back in the beginning she would excuse all her odd feelings with "it must be the feeling of a job well done". she is still operating under the excuse of not wanting her employer to die bc she would be jobless bc nothing else would make sense. iirc in the next couple of chapters she would start to realize her feelings might be more than platonic.

I feel she doesn't see Diana's advances as romantic bc in her head Diana is a kid (almost her kid) so for her might be childish feelings of admiration instead of attraction. But also also, remember that Natori is a Japanese average person who had a mildy average life, she probably think romance between girls is nothing serious after all there hasn't really been any typical "wait, girls can like girls?" scenes as cliche as they might be
