But when mangaka posts the about new chapters going live on their twitter, it's a bit upsetting knowing that I can't enjoy them. Seeing japanese posts about the chapter in my feed sucks too. I love engaging with japanese fans of Watamote on twitter, but I can't do that with this series.
I don't understand how this is a controversial take. The only reason the english one is behind is because they want higher quality raws. Not because the series ended years ago, and it's only just now being translated. Not because it's one person doing all the work, and they have a day job. Not because the raws don't exist. No. It's because they would rather leave readers hanging for two months just so they can have a higher resolution output. Any of these other excuses are fine. I don't even mind waiting a week or more for the translation, but two months for a completely self-imposed restriction is absurd.
Also, I don't care that I have to wait two months for new chapters. Nobody but the publisher or the mangaka has control over that. I care that I have to wait two months to read them for no other reason than a nice sentiment.

Erika's focus actually tracks fairly well narratively, the only reason to claim "no one knows what it's about" is because youve forgotten what the past chapters were about due to the long wait between them (and don't speak for many of us, we care for oshizumai AND erika )

Twitter has a translate feature, and if you be considerate and use simple English sentences, it works very well. It's actually very easy and fun to engage with people who speak a different language than you on Twitter. It gives you a perspective on things that you can't get from only engaging with your own language.
And I don't machine translate manga because I understand enough to know that it can't translate manga very well at all. A text post on Twitter is one thing, but manga is a visual medium, and an AI can't translate it accurately without that visual context.

Also....the artwork for this particular title is one of my favorite parts about it. It's gorgeous.

I realize it's entirely a me thing, but I couldn't stand seeing it in subpar resolution quality. Waiting a couple months for crisp scan images of such beautiful line work feels like a small price to pay when I'm not currently giving money to support the continued work (because I'm working toward being able to start purchasing volumes again in the near future and will thus support in that fashion).

If someone's spending money and then having to wait extra for "personally applied principles" or whatever, then that's one thing. But if people are mad about the wait time when it's all otherwise free in the monetary sense......I mean. What?

Right?! After this chapter was released, I re-binged chapters 45 - 84 just to remember what has occurred... With that said, it was a rewarding binge as the side-stories are very rewarding, especially Togano Mai's. Her background that's outlined in Chs 60 - 68 is very, very touching.

Hiro posted the date chapter (Ch 85) on 4 July and he USUALLY posts chapters about a month or so apart (give or take a few days - he's so good, that Young Jump doesn't tie him down to a deadline, so he makes his own deadlines). This scanlation group posts an English TL for a chapter when the next chapter is out, because that way they can get much better raws than the Tonari no Young Jump site which is not really the best quality, tbh, but evidently there are good quality raws somewhere for the previous chapter when the next chapter comes out.

All that to say, I'm GUESSING that Ch 86 will be out sometime around 29 July to 9 August, but that's just a guess on my part and therefore the TL to Ch 85 will be here a few days later.
