I don't really like how they toned things down here - not just the fact that Melty does jump him in the WN/LN, but also her showing a more vulnerable side.
What I did find heartwarming however was the number of people in the radio room. It shows how important he is to them, and not for his abilities.

I did consider that, but does it actually matter? Unless the humans can send hippogriff riders or something after them, they can only stare helplessly, as long as Kousuke doesn't fly so low mages could intercept the hot air balloon. Furthermore, they would naturally know Kousuke would flee toward the enemy occupied territory, to get back to where he belongs, so it's not like Kousuke would really need to hide his destination if he can't be stopped. On the plus side, it would be an easy trip without needing to traverse through forests and over mountains on foot.

I don't get this whole sub-thread. He has Minecraft powers, he can just walk in straight and level line through / under the mountain. It would leave a tunnel that migt become a vulnerability, but he could plug it with multiple cubes of solid rock. Or even pure metal.
Why would he need to ride or fly over? Did you ever wanted a baloon while playing Minecraft?

Some folks skipped the spoiler regarding Melty's horns from a previous chapter. Understandable though.

They also didn't mention that the Slimes actually had a visible change in their default physical state, as if they really had a good meal and became plump.

Maybe Kousuke could build a hot air balloon for easier travel. Assuming winds are favourable.

1) Hot Air Balloons are not for novices. You'd need to have knowledge of the climate and wind direction at different altitudes to even travel in the right direction.
2) It's a fantasy world, if there are dangerous monsters on the ground, imagine there are in the air. A hot air balloon is just an easy target.

Wouldn't that mean there are more dangerous monsters on the ground? Especially since dangerous monsters in the air would also attack prey on the ground. Things really aren't that difficult for him with his haxor power, so I doubt flying a hot air balloon would be quite as challenging as it would be in RL.

That's certainly a valid point. He could dig a tunnel the whole way through, for miles upon miles, allowing his allies to attack behind enemy lines unchecked.

A simple detail you're both missing and is a problem for any long tunneling in the real world. VENTILATION. Even in the chapters where MC was digging a water well or the ruins in the middle of the Omit wastelands and those were just a few meters down Sylphy was using spirit magic to blow air down.

That's because CO2 is heavier than air, so if you mine down, the higher-than-normal concentration of CO2 would eventually reach one's mouth, as a funtcion both of depth and the time you're in the shaft, making more CO2, without stirring it somehow.
It should not be a problem if he tunnels horizontally under each mountain (separately), it might be if he tried to tunnel all the way, under entire mountain range, or tunnel downward.

I'm annoyed also how they're skipping straight to the mountains and missing one of the best Kousuke screw ups ever. That and discovering what Melty really is.

Melty is an Overlord, which is why Sylphy knew she could get to Merinsberg and back by herself(only Sylphy knows)
1: The scene with the slimes should have been its own chapter, seriously.
2: For the trip back, which originally even Melty didn't want to risk the mountains, would have involved passing through several towns. Melty's solution was to pose as Kousuke's sex slave(he tried for just slave, she insisted on sex slave).
3. Upon leaving the cave, they get in a fight with goblins. Melty vaporizes them with the shockwave from a punch.
4. The first town they reach, the guards want a round with Melty, Kousuke calls her his property, and then they head for the mountains.
