I mean... a short and sweetish storyline is nice but this had a lot more potential than just being a two volume manga. Shame it's ending like this. Just gotta hope it does a good job next chapter.

In particular, one will note how that whole "Secret society of sorcery skill users" concept was introduced and, y'know, lined up to be important...

This feels like one where you can nail down a fairly narrow range of chapters in which the artist learned they were not getting a continuation.

Possibly, but this smells more like "wasn't as popular as the producers hoped and got cancelled" to me.

This is seemingly wrapping everything up quickly like mad and trying to draw everything to an emotional conclusion; in an advertisement teaser series you'd normally end with "tune in to see how it goes after this, folks!"
