I've been trying for days to get that thing to work in order to measure its rotation, to no avail and faulty behaviour despite following the guides and using the official libraries. Info for the bugs I can't find anything towards with search engines either.
In a final fit of frustration, I used ChatGPT to generate me code to do it, and that shit works on the first try.
I can still get learning on how it works by analyzing it, but I am very annoyed that several days of stress and frustration were pointless.

Oh, update on that, the "Solution" didn't actually work.
It counted RAISING THE DEVICE AS CHANGES IN THE Z-AXIS!!!
I'm giving up on fixing this bug, frankly, I just take the bug that the Z-axis continues to rotate for no known reason.

Most effective easy countermeasure may be to disconnect something on the electrical feed to the ignition (spark) system - this used to be something you could do at the distributor cap, but would probably be easier at one or more of the coil packs on a modern engine. Very few people who are inclined to steal a car are going to take time to diagnose a non-starting fault.
