After the Time Skip (or rather a bit before) the important fights will be Dragon Ball style with the fighters moving faster than the eye can keep up, producing shock waves every time they exchange blows, casting spells that can decimate armies, that sort of thing.

Also in volume 10 Shishou imagines Fran as a Magical Girl (and is outraged by his own imagination)

That also bothered me, but it was because that doesn't happen in the novel, so the manga was ruining her.

(In fact, in the novel, she herself says that she has no right to try to be a maternal figure for Fran, so instead, she'll be the wall she has to overcome, and boy, that wall is high.)
