I honestly feel it is bc of how he carries himself. For him he has a specific boundary for her being an idol not an obtainable individual for him. So she doesn't feel it creepy bc she knows that is the extent of his fandom for her. At least my guess

It doesn't look like he has anything there to be making any of it himself. He could be custom ordering it, but it's more likely that he's just buying up all the official merch. Official merch can be pretty pricey outside Japan, but the prices are much more reasonable if you can find them at a physical location in Japan.

I think I would read a series about idolotaku getting infected by idols and transforming into their replacement.
The only problem is it reminds me of a couple of manga which give me mixed feelings and repressed trauma
