that baby on the phone must be one of the UGLIEST babies i ever did see. poor that kiddo. unless it is just a doll that presents clothes... i hope because goddamned it is an ugly baby.

Better keep the mother alive than the baby? hmm. i must admit i agree. but ouch to get that question.

Honestly if you're that worried just cut her open. It's very safe in this day and age
Yeah, I think this manga was set in 2008. Still safe, but it is a tiny clinic that probably doesn't have much for a c-section.

Wtf it started in 2008 and lasted long enough for multi camera smartphones to exist? Well that makes it even more about the clinic, that room looks like more than half a century old from the style.

Certainly in Japan and maybe wherever you are, but not necessarily in the good ol' U-S-A! US is tied with Lebanon and Malaysia, just ahead of China and behind Uruguay.

Tho fun fact about the increasing maternal mortality rate in the US, it isn't so much that it went up but that a lot of states weren't collecting good statistics on it until ~2017 - so it was a disgrace for a wealthy developed country all along! You darn kids!

Melodramatic, it's just a consent form, a please don't sue me for doing my job form.
I thought it was a nice touch. Very little media (and certainly can't say I expected it from a SoL / light-ecchi comedy manga) really talks about how things go down in the worst case of delivery & childbirth scenario. It's the usual sorta mom disappears, dad paces around, Dr comes out, everyone goes into the room, happy babby, everyone is clapping and saying Congratulations to Shinji.

And I'm not sure how it is in Japan, but for the US, there's definitely a sizeable segment of the population that might actually have a problem with the doctor prioritizing the mother's life over the baby's... sigh.

Yeah I was pretty puzzled as the outside of the clinic is a clearly modern building but the interior scenes look like she's giving birth in a Victorian mansion. Maybe that's what Japanese women consider relaxing decor for the L&D department?

Strictly speaking, this is possibly the most rational choice of note to include. Sobering, level-headed realism that contrasts the vivid visuals and exaggerated representation, and the mixing of both keeps you reading.

Absolutely bravo, and thank you for the TL.

Technically you do want to explain all options and possibilities before you get a consent signed, but it's not even that early a delivery and there aren't any other serious risk factors. The doctor made it needlessly tense by making it sound like a trolley problem.

I really do think that it's just a chance to show the Dai will put his wife above everything. That he loves her and even against her best wishes will do what is right. He's a good husband... Now show us them safe and happy post birth.
