It kinda is part of the dysphoria the MC might possess.
If it is Dysphoria, then it isn't a pure gender dysphoria, but also a skin colour dysphoria, purity dysphoria, appearance dysphoria, etc.
He(I think I can use that, given that both his old and isekaied self are male) has the ideal of a Yuri heroine, it's more so that particular fantasy he is and was into.
Oh yeah, I definitely recognize how it can be, like socially pressured to create an element of dysphoria in someone. I've seen videos on how it's an entire industry with like, skin bleaching and the like and how it's casually pressured. Just wish more stories let the ideal femme gal have darker skin like the MC's body I guess. Would be nice to like share the love, you know? (Though this is still the first chapter so, idk, maybe the only tanner character in the story won't be the MC's original body.)
I can see your logic about the pronoun thing, like as a trans woman myself I've considered where the lines are on referring to someone if they don't personally use those pronouns to view or refer to themselves. In cases like these it's sort of greyer because, well, the MC's not real after all lol. I think the reason a lot of other trans people in the comments are getting worked up is because, if you write a character based on the experiences, imagery, personality, etc. of transgender people, it's kind of hard to not see them as... well it probably also doesn't help that a lot of trans' people's experiences go through a period where they compulsively say "Oh well I'm not REALLY trans I'm-[blank]" over and over again lol.
Cause, like, a lotta trans women have to come to accept that they can still be women with or without "the junk" typically associated with being a guy. So to a lot of us what it feels like is just seeing a gal going through that "arc" so to speak, cause... honestly it feels like that's currently the only hangup for the MC? Hell it's the first chapter and
despite that she literally was about to go back to 100% presenting engaging and hoping to referred to as a girl in school, you know? isudhksjhf.
I guess since she's a fictional character and the hurdle feels pretty in line with trans experiences, there's this feeling of not wanting to misgender her... ahead of time? What is it called, pre-ordering? There's terms for this I swear siudhfsjk.
I think that's why I brought up Stop Hibari Kun in this convo cause, like, her author refers to her as a guy and he/him despite in universe she wants/identifies/presents as a girl despite having a body like the MC in this story. Hell she even hangs out with trans guys who take testosterone and apparently that's not enough lol. So a lot of people in this thread are also accustomed to stories where for all intents and purposes it's just a trans gal but she's still treated as a guy regardless.
