Okay, nah, Irene is also very evil, she's actually mind breaking Faye into becoming obedient to her
This isn't much better than grooming Faye for 10 years to become a Princess, this is just as fucked up

I never really understood why authors like to turn a heterosexual character gay in violent ways
Doesn't really help with showing gay relationships in a good way :nyoron:

Agreed that Irene is a fcked up manipulator who is full on stockholming Faye into falling in love with her but I don't think Faye is hetero, seems more like she's either aro/aroace or a (very deep in the closet due to the aforementioned grooming to be compliant in being married off) closet lesbian.

Faye hasn't displayed any real interest in men (or women for that matter (at least not outside novels yet)) beyond the practical benefits that come with marrying someone rich and of high status (she even stated herself that she's just following "the rules of the game" that is life, she never said that she actually wants to marry or be in a relationship anyone) and has only displayed legitimate interest in sapphic novels (albeit it's possible that might be more for the aspects of gender equality shown in them than the actual sapphic aspects of them.)

Well, even if she isn't heterosexual, my statement still stands
Authors really like to make characters acknowledge their sexuality in violent ways, and it really doesn't help portraying non-hetero relationships in a good way :nyoron:
