Isn't this every arc he's been in ? he only keep falling upwards because either MC shows up, his AI saves him or since he's the "precious baby boy" of the sponsors they bury every tragedy he's part of.

That's one of the funny things in this series (Web Novel, Light Novel and Manga). IMO Katsuya is the average isekai MC that is overpowered and that people in the world just love for no reason, while also having a lot of things being handed to him. But we don't get to pay attention to this in most isekais because the POV is on the MC of that world.

What I don't understand is the amount of hate readers give the kid.
I understand that he has tons of bad points: a dense harem protag, jealous & picks stupid fights with Akira, has a passive brainwashing aura
But there are plenty of worse characters from other series, like the spear hero (dumb harem protag, jealous & picks fights with MC), the pig (actively manipulates), the glasses guy in the tortoise arc (actively manipulates, brainwashes, guinea pigs his followers)
And they are actual adults, compared to the kid, who is a kid!
But the amount of hate he has is still greater than those guys
It's like he has a passive brainwashing aura that affects irl, but it makes pp hate him
