I know about the rule: Do not arbitrarily combine several chapters into a single release.
but consider there are also rule: Chapters may only be split into parts if the source material was also split in the same way. Chapters that have been split up by the translators for any other reason may be recombined into singular whole chapters.
I think there are a case that need to reconsider base on circumstance
Which happen because i reading this manga. i mean for lot of one page manga, release 1 page at a time, each "chapter" leave you enough of a note for you to stay, to discus, etc... but not every time, what about sometime they do long arc ? here is example, this, RAW, author upload it in a place where there are shit load of page, you read the next page, just scroll down. now it was volume release. But not work the same here in mangadex.
And i telling you it very annoying experience

- first, imagine read one page of you manga, then next page you have to load, for every chapter. especially for who have slow internet, that just pause your flow of reading
- Credit page. it was normal, for chapter that like 20 page. but what if you see credit page every page, like watching ads for every 10s of a youtobe clip. Now imagine that and double the ads, (no joke, currently happen with the manga above)
- and sometime, idk about you but i have to reread the previous page, for recheking someting i not sure or detail, and then you have to repeat that whole thing again and load every page that you roll back
