She controls magic at an intuitive level, and is using it to replicate scientific processes. She wouldn't need to drop nukes around the world, if she just makes all the magic in the world into a nuclear blast.

There's a point later in the novel, we're probably almost there, where she goes into a dungeon with Sword, and lights a dark room by surrounding them in wispy little firefly like lights, like sparkles. She explains that she's having the magic in the air cause nuclear reactions for that.

Not saying this is what she actually planned to do, but she could, and her ending the world is supposed to be so that there is zero chance of being reborn there, kinda pushes past the suicidal label by default.
